Toast Kaizen Retro at Shingo 0037

My Gen-Z daughter, Alison, recently explained to me the mystique of vinyl records. Apart from the alleged ‘warmer sound’, there’s also the tactile experience of loading the record and lowering the tone arm. And, the cover artwork and notes are often worth more than the record. There’s something nostalgically tangible about the whole package that cannot by replaced by Picture1-2Spotify. “You can’t hold a digital song in your hand,” Ali explained, which I guess explains the vinyl collectibles market, estimated at around two-billion dollars last year!

With the 37th Annual Shingo Conference approaching, all this retro-talk gave me a crassly commercial but whimsical idea: Why not offer an autographed copy of the Toast Kaizen DVD to the first fifty persons who visit our GBMP Next pre-Shingo Conference gathering on April 28 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Provo Marriot Bryce Conference Room?   Who cares that you no longer have a working DVD player? Here’s a chance to own a piece of Lean antiquity, signed by none other than the Toast Guy himself. It’s been 20 years since the Shingo Prize recognized Toast Kaizen, so we’ll call this our 20th anniversary edition.

Seriously, for those of you who will be at the Provo conference this month (April 27-30), please stop by GBMP Next on the 28th to sample some exciting new products. I’ll be there along with:

  • Scott Gauvin – creator of THE Respect For People Roadmap
  • Dan Fleming – creator of Lean Learning Paths
  • Billy Ray Taylor – creator of the Connected Business Model

Hope to see you.

- O.L.D.
