Dole & Bailey, established in 1868 in Boston's historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace, is a premier supplier of fine meats, seafood, produce, and specialty foods to the region's culinary community. Currently operating from its Woburn, MA manufacturing and warehouse facility, Dole & Bailey employs 110 people and distributes more than 20 truckloads of product per day throughout New England.
Dole & Bailey began its lean manufacturing journey in 2007, and in 2008, received a training grant from the state of Massachusetts to train its employees on the continuous improvement philosophy and tools - including Six Sigma. As a result, the organization has undergone many changes including:
- A 200% increase in manufacturing output with 20% less labor
- New product flow layouts
- Standardization of product database resulting in significant reduction in picking errors and sales time for product searches
- The effective use of A3's, 5S, and employee empowerment
- Three Six Sigma Green Belts on staff
During the tour, attendees will learn more about the results and how Dole & Bailey's passionate team has achieved and maintained the process outcomes.
